Message from the Head of Department

Hasan Kalyoncu University’s Faculty of Communication “Radio, Television and Cinema Department” is a young, dynamic school that places great importance on production above all else. Our aim is to bring out the creativity and artistic sensibilities of our students, which we know exist but which they may not yet be aware of, so that they can produce with enthusiasm and enjoy learning without ever tiring. Although we are still a very new school, our students have already begun to take part in national and international festivals and to make us proud with the praise and awards they have won!

Our students develop themselves both through courses taught by expert faculty members in their fields and through workshop studies with artists we invite from abroad, who open new horizons for them. Together they write scripts, shoot films, and design radio and television programs. They also have the chance to put what they learn into practice by completing internships at TRT, Anadolu Agency, ATV, Sabah and local media organizations.

One of the strongest aspects of our department is our international connections. We have Erasmus opportunities and student exchange agreements with foreign schools. We are also proud to have been admitted to CIFEJ, to which respected film schools around the world belong. The Golden Baklava Film Festival, held every year at our university and gaining international status this year, is an event enriched with screenings, talks and cultural trips, where young filmmakers from around the world, from Argentina to Romania and from Lebanon to Belgium, come together with the active participation of our students.

Our four-year education program aims to bring you together with the exciting world of art, culture and communication. At the end of these four years you may become a film director, a screenwriter, a producer, a cinematographer or an academic. We look forward to setting out on this beautiful journey together…
