Hasan Kalyoncu University’s Radio, Television, and Cinema Department, in the Faculty of Communication, values youth, dynamism, and creativity above all else. Our goal is to bring out our students’ creative and artistic expression, which they may be yet to discover in themselves. We enable them to create in an inspirational setting, motivating them with the pleasure of knowledge. Despite being a relatively new department, our students have participated in national and international film festivals, making us proud with the praise and awards they receive.
Our students develop both in the courses run by our expert faculty and in workshops led by invited international artists, who open up new horizons for them. Together, they write scripts, produce films, and design radio and television programs. Our university’s radio channel, HKÜ FM (106.8), features programs written and presented by our students, by industry professionals, and by academics, and which host esteemed guests each week. In addition, our students have the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice through internships with TRT, Anadolu Agency, ATV, Sabah, and local media organizations.
With exceptional international networks, our department provides opportunities for Erasmus programs and student exchange agreements with foreign schools. What is more, we are proud members of CIFEJ (the International Centre of Films for Children and Young People) and SEECS (South-Eastern European Cinema Schools Association), both highly prestigious organizations that run renowned cinema schools worldwide. A mark of our international standing is our annual international Golden Baklava Film Festival, a vibrant event that brings together young filmmakers from across the world, from Argentina to Romania, Lebanon to Belgium, where they make long lasting connections. The festival is full of screenings, discussions, and cultural trips, which add a colorful dimension to the event.
Our four-year education program introduces our students to the exciting world of art, culture, and communication, furnishing them with the all the skills and knowledge to go on to beome film directors, screenwriters, producers, cinematographers, and radio broadcasters, or to develop an academic career. We hope you will embark on this exciting journey with us…
